Evernote Journaling
My journaling effort was not going well at first. Every time I put the journal in my bag I thought about all the thoughts that would be lost if the bag was stolen or lost. Some people like paper but when I weigh the cost of feeling like shit if my journal was stolen or my house was hit by an asteroid I have no problem taking my chances with a server. Plus I back all my crap up on Mozy.
I looked and could not find a satisfactory online journaling site. For me I need a comfortable interface that is easy on the eyes and something I can get to via my G1. So I have settled with Evernote for now. Evernote is not bad actually and like Flickr use get so much space a month to upload too. If you are just writing a journal then 40 MB a month should be fine. You can access it via the web or download the programs for free. It is available on Webclipper Firefox Add-on, Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android, and Blackberry. You can only do images, audio, ink, PDF on the free account and it is not encrypted. For encryption you need the premium account which is $5 a month.
So far I have been writing much more than normal. A lot of notes to my son and thoughts and story ideas. Finally I am getting my memoirs and a journal going. I read it is good for stress management but I don’t want to write down how I think a lot of people should just go off and die somewhere. That’s how you end up on The First 48.
